Coring is to obtain samples of different rock types.
Coring is the technique most often used for geological fieldwork.
The assembly used for a core drilling crown consists of :
– a sleeve reamer
– a corer (to retrieve the sample),
– the rod and the drill itself.
Alternatively, is possible to use of a Triplex sheath (plastic liner) to better retain the core.
Depending on the type of application, the tool used can be
– a diamond ring impregnated or set stones
– a PDC (polycrystalline diamond) ring or carbide crown.
Each tool has its own data sheet that indicates the best application based on the type and hardness of the geological formation encountered.
